I love to wake up with fog hugging the New York skyscrapers from my studio window that looks towards Times Square. One of my artist heroes is Mark Toby, a 1950’s Abstract Expressionist who painted color-field grey paintings, along with colorful scenes of bustling New York life. This painting is minimal in color and has a strong architectural line that feels like New York.

The balance of line is especially even in this work. The warm grey surface plays nicely off the cool grey middle layer that supports the white line. The detail photos show both ends of the line, where it begins and ends. The framed image is a photoshop to show how it might look in a home.

Each work comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and is signed on the back. Shipping included in price & satisfaction is fully guaranteed.

Carved directly into layers of wet latex paint, these paintings look and feel like plaster yet are resilient. Follow the line like a rollercoaster, or see the whole as a form. Rotate them to how you like, and rename them often - Interpretation is an art. These action paintings were developed in the heart of Manhattan in 2020 and are truly New York Abstract Expressionism. I suggest simple, contemporary framing with a wide, 3”-4” mat.
