‘If you build it, they will come.’ is central to the artist ideal of working from the heart to create art so personal, it’s universal.
You are invited to travel through dynamic visual fields, from texture into pictorial space, to find our own personal connection.

Windows into worlds where dreams can play, we explore surfaces that reach into deep space in a land of rhythmic lines that dance through the air. Seeming to fly through dimensions, foreground and background weave together in a glittering interplay of opalescence and translucency to discover new depths of field.

Early drawings tell the story through formal studies on a quest for a refined abstract style. Sketching intricate line-clouds becoming forms, morphing into shapes, and eventually figures. Six finished works from this series are exhibited for the first time: Wayvox, 1986; Whirlwind, 1989; Sand in my Shoes, 1988; each 11” x 8.5”

These dreamlike narratives blur the boundaries of where one figure ends and the other begins. As perspectives shift, the logic of dreams comes into play. Feeling the colors and riding the lines through the composition is the heart of abstract art. The absence of recognizable objects frees the imagination to feel as much as think.
In the Zone, watercolor, 14” x 11”
The ‘Calligraph’ series of one-line drawings is an elegant shorthand for abstract figures. Harmonic and lyrical, seeing the line become animated is an exhilarating iteration of New York Abstract Expressionism. We feel the line quality, see the speed of execution, and imagine into the melodic forms. Watching the line weave through itself gives us the feeling of racing through fields of texture effortlessly. As a continuous line, they resemble Labyrinths and are in the tradition of the Japanese calligraphic circle, Ensō, practiced by Zen monks as a meditation.
